The mission of OPOD (asbl) is to train, supervise, initiate, and support people in difficulty and especially women and young People in self-care and cohabitation of different ethnic communities..

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is a country located in the center of Africa. There are 26 Provinces, with a total area of 2,345,410 km2. The DRC has experienced repeated wars which have caused loss of human lives, conflicts, accentuated poverty, underdevelopment, internal and external displaced persons, famine, and the destruction of the ecosystem where women and children are the notable victims. In addition, floods from rivers and Lake Tanganyika, along with natural disasters are the cause of the demolition of many houses, valuable goods and fields.

Our Values

AIMS: To achieve this we aim to train, inform, supervise, initiate and attend to people in difficulty specifically to women and girls in self-care through the peaceful living together of different ethnic communities..

VISION: Our actions will focus on sustainable humanitarian actions for women, young people, vulnerable children, disadvantaged and unemployed people in order to achieve a sense of collective solidarity and sympathy for the victims of conflicts and the protection of environment.

PROJECT MISSION

The wide ranging activities of OPOD (asbl)

Project Activities

  • Organize training on peace, non-violence, justice and protection of human rights and civic education.
  • Provide microcredits to women, young girls and destitute people.
  • Promote the actions of Power of Eight Members in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
  • Buy the land and build a centre for the work of OPOD asbl.
  • Build an orphanage in Swima Fizi to shelter orphaned children.
  • Support the education of disadvantaged young people in primary school, secondary school and university.S
  • Protect the environment, the ecosystem, promote climate justice and Agriculture at the Grassroots Initiatives.
  • Promote local population development actions.
  • Create an English and Peace Training Center in Swima-Fizi.
  • Support women’s football clubs in Swima Fizi and introduce them to the Promotion of Human Rights.
  • Open a cutting and sewing workshop for young girls and women in Swima Fizi.
  • Planting trees to protect the environment.
  • Cultivate corn, cassava and peanut fields.
  • Promote the Action of Power of Eight at the Base level.
  • Reconcile all beneficiaries so that they can live in Unity and with Trust.
  • To do the follow up and evaluation of activities.
  • To set up OPOD asbl website and annual payment of it.

Expected Results

  • One hundred and twenty people will be trained in the alliance of Peace, Non-Violence, Human Rights and Civic Education
  • Twenty women and girls will receive Microcredits for one year.
  • Two training courses will be organized for women and girls to gain credit for the management of the Microcredit.
  • Forty women and young girls will be trained in sewing and peace in Swima Fizi.
  • Four monitoring and evaluation sessions will be organized for the demonstration correct Microcredit management.
  • Land will be bought and a centre for the work of OPOD asbl will have been constructed.
  • A field will be bought and the foundations laid for the construction of an orphanage in Swima Fizi.
  • One hundred people will be trained in the English at the Peace Training Centre in Swima Fizi for 12 months.
  • Forty women will be trained in cutting and sewing and promotion of human and women’s rights for 12 months.
  • Three fields of will be cultivated for corn, cassava and peanuts in 12 months.
  • One thousand trees will be planted for environmental protection and agro forestry training for through the year.
  • Ten members will be supported by the UK OPOD Support Group for a year.
  • Three hundred project recipients will be reconciled, united, and will carry out their activities with confidence over the year.
  • A website of OPOD asbl will be set up and an annual payment will be made for it.
  • An annual follow up and evaluation will be done at the end of the year with the Annual Report being shared with the donors.
